(Untitled) -TEASER (Unfinnished)
The day the world ended was over. The nations had fallen and the land had been left in ruins. The world lived in a dust cloud, and fire, still feeding from the rubbish was our only source of light. We did not know when days had past, only that they did. We would not even know what season was upon us, only that it felt like the horrid summer that burns upon the desert sands. Dry brown and grey dust leaped into our lungs. The governments had failed to protect the lives of the world and for that we will never forget. Down where Main St. used to be, lively people with umbrellas, dodged the traffic of cars that honked their horns and bustled along the work in the tall buildings along the sidewalks. Now buildings were crumbled down into the streets. A tattered man picked through the rubble and the dust, his coat and hat were a dull brown, wether they were really that color I’ll never know. Many people had died, many people, too many people . . . The city reeked of dead flesh; the scavengers didn’t even want them. We were left to burry our own dead. The dead buried the dead, and the dead buried us; disease was rampant, there were no places where medical help could be obtained. Somehow the rats survived. Oh God, how the rats survived. Since the city was in constant night, they were always around us, picking off of the living and the sick. Crime was frequent: thefts, violence, murders. People lived in fear. People just wanted to survive, and they survived the best they knew how. I arrived on 2nd Street to a semi-intact apartment building, the right side of the structure had collapsed, but somehow the left side had survived. The windows had been blown out and sheets and wooden boards had been used to cover the windows. I entered through the main entrance and was immediately stopped by a man with a shot gun named George Herman. He stuck the gun to my chest before he recognized who I was.
